OFFICIAL WARFARE Tour 1987

  1. Regarding the 1987 Official Warfare Tour by Front 242 in the United States, to my knowledge, the show on October 10th, 1987 at the Cabaret Metro in Chicago, Illinois was the ONLY show that Front 242 did in the States.

They were unable to obtain "P-1B Temporary (Nonimmigrant) Worker Classification" visa work permits for the tour due to some red tape with the USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services).

They did do shows in Canada and in a stroke of genius, the founders of Wax Trax! Records in Chicago (of which Front 242 were on the label), Jim Nash and Dannie Flesher, managed to drive to Toronto in a van and pick up the group with all of their gear and drive them back across the Canadian / U.S.A. border and then high tail it to Chicago for the one night only gig.

They pulled it off and I can proudly say that I was one of the 1,200 + fans that managed to catch them perform that evening. Very cool experience.

    Side note here:

The official video for "Masterhit" was shot at this show and perfectly captures the visual and audio assault on the senses that constituted Front 242's image back then.

    Take care,

Funny thing is, is that I can pick myself out in the crowd in the video. Up front against the right side of the stage. Came home with my ears ringing and a pair of large bruises on my hips from being squished against the stage.

    Take care dimitroy.
